K Bike Oil Filter Cover Weep

At some point during the K1200 model run, BMW starting painting over the sealing surface of the K model oil filter cover. If the paint is too thick or not applied evenly, oil can leak or "weep" from the area around the cover due to uneven or inadequate pressure on the o-ring. Whenever we encounter this during an oil change, we always plane the area flat on a granite surface plate using 400 grit wet/dry sandpaper until all the paint is removed. If you have leaks or weeping around the cover of your K bike oil filter cover, you may find this easy modification will solve that problem.
