BMW discontinued the “084” 15.8 master cylinder many years ago and replaced it with the 34311241960 14.29mm master cylinder. The slightly smaller diameter gives you more braking power with slightly more pedal travel, so it was the preferred diameter. The rest of the rear disc brake system from 78-84 was unchanged, only the master cylinder size was changed as sort of an upgrade. However, that master cylinder is also no longer available from BMW. We have the replica of the last master cylinder BMW recommended for your bike which is the “960” 14.29mm master.
