I've been riding my Africa Twin AS mostly two up for about a month / 600 miles with the new TracTive rear shock upgrade and I'm loving it. The original shock on these bikes are very good but having installed a TracTive rear shock on an old BMW GS I have, I knew this was going to be something I wanted to do on the AT.
As it was with the BMW, it is a vast improvement on the AT - mostly in dampening control and handling on less than idea road conditions. My old shock would occasionally bottom out in fast woopties when fully loaded. It would also feel clapped out at fuel coffee break stops (kick stand would not deploy properly) but no more.
I especially appreciate the friendly and efficient staff at Ted Porter's in getting just the right combination of spring and shock setting for our two up travel bike and Ted Porter himself is not above getting on the phone and helping out with my order.
