The BMW R12 is a super cool cruiser with a low seat height of 29.75". However this low seat height is achieved by sacrificing suspension travel to only 3.5", front and rear. You use up 30% of this travel just sitting on the bike leaving very little travel to absorb the bumps. Making matters worse, the OEM shock is built to a low price point as the top priority with no damping adjust.


In standard length the Wilbers shock achieves significantly improved response and comfort while maintaining the same seat height. In the +15mm version more travel is added which is desperately needed, soaking up the larger bumps better, but it does raise the seat height by that amount.


Wilbers model 640 is a rear shock with:

  • Rebound damping adjust.

  • Available with either Threaded Ring or Hydraulic Preload Adjuster for optimum sag setup. (see *Recommendation, below)

  • Fully rebuildable and five year warranty.

    Three Spring & Knob color choices:

  • Blue Springs with Red Knobs.

  • Black Springs with Grey Knobs.

  • Blacked out with Red Knobs.

  • *Recommendation: Please note that it is extremely difficult to access the Threaded Preload Adjuster on this model.  Therefore it is HIGHLY recommended that this product be purchased with the Hydraulic Preload Adjuster option.  The Threaded Preload Adjuster is designed for the rider whose loads do not change and therefore seldom needs to adjust the spring tension on the rear shock.
