This kit is for bikes that are already 1000cc 1977-1980, to be used with 1000cc cylinders heads.
Enjoy the benefits of Nikasil cylinders on your 77-80 R100 which BMW used as original equipment beginning in 1981.
No cylinder wear, better compression and improved oil control. The Nikasil plating is applied directly to the aluminum cylinder with no steel barrier resulting in significantly improved heat dissipation and lower combustion chamber temperatures. This means longer engine life.
Dual plug ignition is recommended due to high compression pistons. You can install low compression base gaskets (part number 11111335650) to reduce compression to 8.8:1 to eliminate the possibility of damaging pre-ignition, otherwise known as pinging.
New Nikasil cylinders.
Stainless steel pushrod tubes already installed. Lightweight 1000cc 9.5:1 pistons.
Pins, rings and circlips.
Kit is complete except for top end gaskets which you can purchase below.
You would use this kit to replace the old steel liner cylinders used from 1977-1980 that were prone to wear prematurely and were not very stable when bored first oversize. We do not recommend boring R100 cylinders.

A super high end cylinder kit. Beautiful quality! At least restores power and probably improves it somewhat. Engine runs cooler and cylinder bore will never wear! Combine this kit with Ted's precision valve job and you will be better than new! After having Ted do this to my 1978 R100S it is such a treat to ride! Would never let it go. It will be passed down to my son when I'm too old to hang on!

Love my new power. I installed these when I had the heads off for other work, as the old iron cylinders had a few miles on them. Nikasil means long life, longer than I will live! No oil burning, seated in easily, and runs like a champ. It's also great to have that extra displacement as the elevation where I live is over 6,000 feet.
