Yacugar Fork Springs 7.0-9.0 Progressive Fork Springs / Honda Africa Twin '16-'19
The stock Honda fork springs are a progressive two stage design, notoriously soft at 5.4-6.6 N/mm with insufficient preload causing excessive sag. These Yacugar 7.0-9.0 N/mm springs start with a 28% increase in initial rate then they ramp up to 9.0 N/mm in the second stage for heavier loads or more aggressive off road riding, reducing weight transfer and nosedive, and resisting bottom-out off road. At 5mm of additional length over stock they also increase preload to reduce sag.
7wt oil is recommended for general purpose and more dirt road riding.
10wt oil is recommended for sport-oriented street riding.
Air chamber is 120mm with springs removed and forks completely compressed.
Instructions for setting air chamber:
1) Remove fork spring and drain old oil.
2) Compress fork fully with spring removed.
3) Add oil until oil level is the prescribed distance from the top of the tube - this is your air chamber.
Piston rods should be pumped several times to dispel any remaining air before final measurement is made.
Air chamber can be measured with a tape measure and flashlight, but our fork oil leveling tool shown below makes the job far easier.
